Large Picture Frames

There isn't a correct answer to this question but generally any poster size image or bigger would be considered large. Poster sizes start from around 800 X 600mm and are also available in A1 (840 X 594mm) or 36 X 24", and we have hundreds of frames available in these sizes.

The largest size picture frame we can send out via our courier is 1220 X 915mm which equates to 48 X 36"(4ft X 3ft).
If you are ordering a frame and mount combination, the maximum image size you can order is 1180 X 875mm as this will allow for our minimum border width of 20mm on each side.
If you are able to collect in your own suitable transport or would like to arrange a same day/direct courier service, we will be able to manufacture frames in larger sizes. However, we wouldn't send frames larger than our maximum size via normal courier as they are likely to arrive damaged. Damage is easily caused on very large box as they get caught in the couriers conveyor belt system, and one little twist is enough to break open a picture frame.

• Frame Moulding - Our website prevents you from ordering large picture frames in unsuitable frame mouldings. A thin profile frame is simply not suitable for a large size frame as it wouldn't be substantial enough to hold everything together. After entering the required size into our website, any unsuitable frames will be removed from the display to prevent them being ordered. On other online picture framing websites you can order huge frames in thin mouldings as they do not have any limitations set - you will be disappointed when they fall to pieces!
• Glazing - We only use genuine 2mm acrylic glazing. This is a far superior product to the cheaper alternative supplied by many online framers. Be wary of companies advertising thinner glazing and calling it acrylic. The smallest thickness genuine acrylic is manufactured in is 2mm(1.8 - 2mm to allow slight variation). Any 1.2mm or 1.5mm glazing is a cheap alternative using a mix of styrene and acrylic. It is very important to have a good quality glazing in larger picture frames as the thinner alternatives can look rippled in the frame and ruin the whole picture.
• Backing Board - We use 2.5mm MDF backing board in all of our custom frames. It is essential for a thick back board to be used to prevent the frame warping over time. Some online framers supply large picture frames with cardboard backs, which is simply not robust enough for bigger size frames.
