Photo or Picture Mounts are the coloured surround that goes around your artwork before being fitted inside the wooden or metal frame surround. Although a mount is optional, it is recommended as it will visually enhance the artwork being framed and add conservational properties by spacing the artwork from the glazing. A mount is not recommended for any item that is framed without glazing, such as an Oil Painting. Mounts can be ordered with rectangle or oval apertures, in a wide range of colours and as double mounts to further compliment your artwork by having contrasting colour boards. Multi Aperture mounts can also be designed online with upto 16 different apertures.
The mount colours shown below are the HEX colour codes of the actual mount boards which have been scanned using a spectrophotometer to get the best colour code match. Unfortunately the setting of your screen/device will alter the visual representation of the mount colour you are viewing. You shouldn't expect an exact match, but in our opinion the colours shown offer an excellent representation of the actual product.
You can order a 100 X 100mm sample of the actual mount board by clicking the Order Sample link under the mount colour. Samples are charged at 60p each including postage.
The white core range is classified by the Fine Art Trade Guild as Level 3 (Mid Level- previously known as Commended Level) Framing. This means the range is suitable for replaceable artwork of limited commercial and/or moderate sentimental value and where visual appearance is important. The boards are acid free and the white bevel will not discolour over time.

The solid core range is classified by the Fine Art Trade Guild as Level 2 (High Level - previously known as Conservation Level) Framing. This means the range is suitable for(but not limited to) original artwork, limited edition of moderate to high value and artworks that are to be preserved for future generations. The board is the same colour throughout so the bevel will be the same colour as the front of the mount.
